Assessment and Report Writing
At Michelle Boyall Speech Pathology, we understand that a thorough and accurate assessment is crucial for goal setting and therapy planning.
The cost of an assessment depends on several factors:
· The number of presenting concerns or areas to be assessed. This could include speech, language, literacy, social communication or feeding.
· The number of sessions required to complete the assessment. Typically, an assessment takes between one and three sessions.
· The type and length of the report required. We offer a range of report options, from summary reports to comprehensive and diagnostic reports.
The fees for assessments include several key components necessary for a thorough evaluation. These costs include:
· Direct/face-to-face assessment with your child
· Analysis, scoring and interpretation of assessment data
· Documentation and report writing
1. Initial Assessment
Duration: 60 minutes
Inclusions:
· Review of referral information
· Case history, clinical observations and formal and informal assessments as required
· Documentation (e.g. summary report, referral letter): up to 2 pages
Cost: $387.98
If additional sessions are required to complete the assessment, these sessions are charged at the hourly rate of $193.99.
If a more detailed or comprehensive report is required, report writing is also charged at the hourly rate of $193.99 (typically allow 1 – 3 hours).
At the time of your initial enquiry, we will discuss your concerns and needs, including assessment options and the time of report you require, and provide an estimate of the number of sessions required to complete the assessment and report.
Reports are sent within two weeks of completing the final assessment activity.

Cancellation Policy and Fees
At Michelle Boyall Speech Pathology, we carefully prepare for each client appointment and limit the number of clients we see each day to ensure a high-quality service. As with most professional services, we have a cancellation policy in place. This policy reflects the time dedicated to planning your session and your reserved appointment slot. When a session is cancelled with short notice, it becomes challenging to offer that time slot to another client who may need it. The cancellation fee covers the time and resources that have been allocated to your session, even if it doesn’t proceed.
If you need to cancel an appointment, please give us as much notice as possible so we can offer the time to another client. Cancellations made with more than 48 hours’ notice will not incur a cancellation fee.
Cancellation Fees
· Less Than 24 Hours’ Notice: If you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice before your scheduled appointment time, a full session fee will apply.
· Between 24 – 48 Hours’ Notice: If you cancel an appointment between 24 and 48 hours before your scheduled appointment time, a 50% session fee will apply.
· No-Show: If you fail to attend an appointment without notifying us, a full session fee will apply, including travel fees for mobile visits. This includes situations where:
o you are not home when a mobile session is scheduled
o your child is not at daycare, kindergarten or school, or is unavailable during the scheduled appointment time
Funding
We can see clients under the following funding options:
· NDIS: We see clients who are either Self-Managed or Plan-Managed.
· Medicare: We are registered with Medicare, and rebates are available for eligible clients. Please speak with your child’s GP to see if they qualify for a referral under Medicare. A copy of the referral from your doctor is required, if eligible. Eligible plans include:

o Helping Children with Autism (requires a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist referral)
o Better Start for Children with a Disability
· Private Health Insurance: We are registered with private health insurance funds. Please check with your provider to confirm if speech pathology services are covered and what rebates may be available.
